Dongfeng GX Autonomous L2+Intelligent Driving Tractor Wins 2024 Truck Innovation Award (China) (TIAC 2024)

On November 8, 2023, the results of the "2024 China Truck of the Year Evaluation" organized by the Commercial Vehicle Magazine were officially announced at the 2023 China Commercial Vehicles Show (CCVS) held in Wuhan. Dongfeng GX Autonomous L2+Intelligent Driving Tractor, a high-end model under Dongfeng Trucks, won the "2024 Truck Innovation Award (China)". Mr. Zhang Xiaofan, General Manager of Dongfeng Trucks, received this award on behalf of the company.

The Chinese Truck of the Year Evaluation was founded by the Commercial Vehicle Magazine in 2015. Based on the successful experience of introducing the European "International Truck of the Year" evaluation event and in conjunction with China's road and logistics conditions, it is a technology-guided evaluation event aimed at selecting the "Chinese Truck of the Year" model. In 2023, the CTOY Jury introduced a new award to China for the first time—the Truck Innovation Award (China) (TIAC). This award, launched by the ITOY Jury in 2018, aims to recognize the truck model with innovative technology and alternative power systems that represent future development trends.

In the case of the Dongfeng GX 560Ps tractor participating in this event, its most notable feature lies in its capability to achieve L2+ intelligent driving. This L2+ semi-trailer tractor is equipped with a variety of sensors, including 5 mm wave radars, 8 cameras, 1 high-precision positioning unit, and an intelligent driving controller. It is also equipped with a comprehensive set of L2+ intelligent driving assistance systems, such as full-speed adaptive cruise, lane centering keeping, lane change with confirmation, predictive cruise function, driver takeover interaction function, etc.

As the only model contender for the Truck Innovation Award (China), the Dongfeng GX 560Ps tractor underwent a critical experience test on its intelligent driving function by the members of the CTOY Jury. Operating under the L2+ intelligent driving assistance system, the driver's primary focus is on monitoring traffic conditions and taking control of the vehicle when necessary, without the need to manually operate the accelerator, brake, steering wheel, etc. The jury members concluded that the Dongfeng GX heavy truck's performance in intelligent driving is undeniably a key competitive advantage. It not only enhances the driving experience and safety but also elevates transportation efficiency and reliability. It is a true intelligent logistics expert, creating new possibilities for the long-distance trunk logistics industry.
